Wiltons are unique because they are woven with all of the yarn running in the warp. Wilton carpets are woven on jacquard looms allowing for great design flexibility. The design is created by pulling the color needed to the front and creating a loop out of it. Three to five colors can be used in a single row depending on the specifics of the loom. The remaining colors stay buried in the background and are not seen. This technique allows for intricate pattern detail and versatility of color. Various pile heights are created with the use of wires. Level loop, multi-level loop, cut pile, and cut and loop carpets are all possible with wilton construction.
